Coronavirus Blues

All Scupanon shows have been cancelled due to the measures taken to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. We love to play for people, so this is painful for us. Also it deprives us of income from those gigs. But of course it’s not just us; all musicians are impacted by the shutdown of live music across the country, and the world.

Here are ways you can help your favorite bands and solo artists make up for the lost revenue during the Coronavirus shutdown:

Buy records– CDs or vinyl– or buy paid downloads.
Unfortunately artists receive very little money when you listen to our music on streaming platforms such as Youtube, Spotify, Pandora, etc. So if that’s the main way you listen to music, please consider buying some paid downloads to help us out. allows you to pay more than the listed price for a download to support the artist.

Scupanon as a band does not have recordings, but our songwriter, Rob Roper, has CDs and Downloads at

And check out our fiddler, Diamond Jim’s latest CD, “Rivers of the Land.”

Join the Artist Fan Clubs.
Many bands and solo artists have a fan club on platforms like Bandcamp and Patreon, where you can make a regular monthly contribution. Please consider this, at least until we can gig again.

Scupanon does not have a fan club, but Rob does. It’s called the Misfit Club and is on his Bandcamp site,

Tip During Live Internet Shows.
Live video streaming platforms, such as Facebook Live, don’t pay us for our performances, like real music venues do. Most artists will provide a way to tip them. Please consider doing so. Scupanon is looking into doing some live shows over the internet. We’ll let you know when we organize one.

Rob is using this shutdown as a songwriting retreat. We hope to be back with new material once this craziness is over!

Scupanon at Swallow Hill in Denver November 14!

Scupanon will play Denver’s biggest folk music venue on November 14. We will play in the Cafe from 7:30 to 9:30pm. I think people who have been there will agree with me that it’s the best place to hear acoustic music in Colorado. You can buy advance tickets at the Swallow Hill front desk, or online at:

Swallow Hill Music is at 71 E. Yale Ave. Denver, CO 80210

Get your tickets early because we hope to sell this one out!

Paul’s last show with Scupanon

After 9 years of playing with me, violinist Paul Ermisch is leaving Scupanon. We are sad to see him go, but wish him the best. Paul’s last show will be this Friday, March 8, 2019 at Halfpenny Brewing in Centennial, Colorado. Denver-area folks, don’t miss it!

Paul’s replacement is Jim Hewitt, who plays both violin and mandola. Jim will also be playing at this Friday’s show.
